Your Privacy at Teamwrk
This page explains what Teamwrk collects at retail locations, why, and how you can control or delete your data at any time.
What we collect
What we collect & why
When you visit a retail location using Teamwrk technology, a camera detects faces in the store environment. Here is exactly what happens:
Your image is captured
A camera records a frame when a face is detected. The original image is deleted immediately after processing — it is not stored.
A numerical vector is created
Your facial geometry is converted into a numerical code (a string of numbers). This is not a photograph and cannot be reverse-engineered back into your image.
Your visit is recorded
Your numerical code is linked to a visit record — the date, time, and store location.
Your visit is linked to your purchase (if you buy something)
If a purchase is made during your visit, your visit record is matched to the transaction.
Why we collect this
Teamwrk helps retail businesses understand how customers experience their stores — without requiring apps, loyalty cards, or sign-ups. We collect only the personal information that is reasonably necessary and proportionate to the specific business purposes below, and we do not use it for any other purpose:
Understand visit patterns
To measure how often customers visit, when peak times occur, and how visit frequency changes over time, so a business can staff and operate its store.
Connect visits to purchases
To measure whether a visit led to a transaction at that same location — helping the business understand what drives sales and the effectiveness of its own advertising.
Personalize the in-store experience
To allow the business to tailor promotions and content to returning customers based on past behavior. You can disable this at any time using the "Limit use of my sensitive information" control below.
Provide business analytics
To provide each business with dashboards showing customer behavior trends, conversion rates, and advertising effectiveness for its own locations.
Attract new & returning customers
To let a business promote itself to new and returning customers by displaying its ads on Teamwrk tablets at neighboring retail businesses. You can disable cross-business use at any time using the "Limit use of my sensitive information" control below.
Purpose limitation & sensitive data. Your face vector is "sensitive personal information" under California law, and we use it only for the purposes listed above. We will not collect additional categories of personal information, or use what we collect for materially different, unrelated, or incompatible purposes, without first giving you notice. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.

How it works
How data collection works
Teamwrk uses passive video analytics. You do not need to sign up, upload a photo, or take any action for data collection to occur. When you enter a retail location powered by Teamwrk, cameras in the store automatically detect and process faces in the environment.
A note about the previous opt-in flow
An earlier version of this page asked you to upload a photo to opt in or opt out. That flow no longer reflects how the system works. Teamwrk now uses passive in-store capture — no upload is required. Your privacy controls are managed through the controls on this page.
